The Zimbabwe team’s batting looked good in the first ODI as well, and it clicked once more for them, with most of the batsmen looking in good form. Craig Ervin, the captain, set the tone early with a 91-run knock off 98 balls. With the help of Raza (51 runs), Sean Williams (48 runs), and Chavabva (47 runs), their team managed to post a competitive total of 302/8 in 50 overs. Vandersay took three wickets for Sri Lanka, while Nuwan Pradeep took two. However, the Sri Lankan team was unable to do so this time and lost the match by 22 runs.
When skipper Dasun Shanaka and Kamindu Mendis made 118 runs for the fourth wicket, Sri Lanka was on track to meet the target. but finally ended up 22 runs short.
