India started their tour of South Africa 2021-22 with a 113-run win in the first Test in December. But, who would’ve thought that after that it would become a nightmare for the India team. The men in blue have lost 5 consecutive matches across the format now. After the test series loss by 2-1, South Africa whitewashed them 3-0 in the ODI series as well. The Indian skipper KL Rahul, won the toss and chose to bowl first.

South Africa were 70/3 at one point before Van der Dussen (52 off 59 balls) and De Kock put on a 144-run partnership. Quinton de Kock produced a batting masterclass to help South Africa post 287 in 49.5 overs, his sixth ODI ton (in just 16 innings against India). Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli both hit 60s before being dismissed, but Deepak Chahar bowled a blinder, hitting 54 off 34 balls to keep the visitors in the game.

India needed ten runs in the final three overs before Chahar departed in search of victory. Jasprit Bumrah quickly followed. And it was 6 runs needed in 6 balls with nine down when the last man, Yuzvendra Chahal, attempted to hoick the second ball of the final over but got a top edge. India eventually lost by four runs.

That’s that from the final ODI. South Africa win by 4 runs and take the series 3-0.
