The T20 World Cup has begun in UAE and Oman, and the group stage matches have been finished, resulting in four teams qualifying for the Super 12 stage: Sri Lanka and Namibia from Group A, and Scotland and Bangladesh from Group B. However, all of the teams appear to be in excellent shape for the competition, with India being the clear favourite to win. The Virat Kohli-led team has already showed their intent by comfortably defeating England and Australia in warm-up matches.
On the other hand, the Indian team and management appear to be having some fun both on and off the field. They are having a good time, whether it is off the field, during practise sessions, team meetings, or during a match. And once again, it is the BCCI who never misses an opportunity to promote their players and all cricket-related activities. This time, the BCCI has shown their lighter side on their official Twitter account, posting a picture of India’s new mentor, MS Dhoni, assisting players as a throwback specialist.
The appointment of MS Dhoni as India’s mentor was the most unexpected move made by the BCCI prior to the T20 World Cup. MS Dhoni is one of India’s most successful captains, having won three ICC titles during his tenure as captain (ODi World Cup, Champions Trophy, T20 World cup). Dhoni has always been the finisher, The most successful Captain, The Master-mind for Indian, but now as a Mentor he is also enjoying his time. Dhoni’s last ODI captaincy came on October 29, 2016 against New Zealand. Dhoni’s final match as a T20I captain was against the West Indies in 2016, before handing over the captaincy to Virat Kohli for all three formats.
However, his victory in the recently concluded IPL 2021 in the UAE demonstrated that he still has a lot of cricketing brain left in him. Many fans and ex-cricketers are pleased with the BCCI’s decision to appoint Dhoni as a mentor, as everyone knows how important he can be for Team India, whether on the field or as a member of the coaching staff. And the fans are loving every minute of MSD with the Indian Team. So, here are some of the reactions to BCCI’s viral post.
