Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is currently playing IPL matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, picks one bowler, and believes that bowlers bring fortune for India in the upcoming T20 world which is scheduled this October.

As UAE is the hosting nation for T20 WC 2021, he believes that spinners will have a big role to play for the Indian cricket team to win the title for the second time, In the present scenario Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav are the strong contenders for the spinner’s slot in the Indian side. But Kolkata Knight Rider cricketer believes that his teammate none other than Varun Chakravarthy can deliver in the T20 world cup for Kohli.

After producing impressive performance in the IPL 2020, the Mystery spinner got a maiden call up for the Indian team in the Australia tour 2020/21, but due to injury, he couldn’t grab the chance that time, later he missed the chance to play for India due fitness concerns.

Finally, he debuted for India in T20I in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. He was economical so far. still, no one decoded his mystery, that is why Harbhajan Singh chose him over the other spinners.

Overall he is having an economic rate of 7.3 from 23 matches and got 27 wickets on his name.

“I feel that is T20 World Cup material because he has all types of qualities. He can take wickets, stop runs, bowl in the Powerplay, and can even bowl in the death overs. His only shortcoming is that he remains way too nervous. I spent some time with him in KKR. He himself doesn’t know what he is capable of,” Harbhajan told Sports Tak.

Further, he added “The first time I had seen him was during a net session with Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni was hitting the rest of the fast bowlers and spinners for sixes but when Chakravarthy was bowling, he had Dhoni in all sorts of trouble and dismissed him several times. And no one was able to hit him in the nets. That’s when I had predicted that this guy is going to play for India. He has a bit of nervous energy but the more he plays, the better he is going to get, Give him some time and I still believe that if India has to do well at the T20 World Cup, the spinners have to do well. Varun Chakravarthy should be a must for India. He has everything you need in a spinner. If he needs to bring about an improvement, he should focus more on what he needs to do on the field. With time, he is going to get better and take lots of wickets for India.”
