With India leading in the series by 2-1, the fifth test between England and India has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Earlier Indian head coach Ravi Shastri tested positive for COVID-19, along with Ravi Shastri fellow members of the support staff Bharat Arun, R Sridhar, and Nitin Patel had gone into isolation.
According to later reports, two of Shastri’s fellow support staff members in isolation had also tested positive. Because of these reasons eventually, the test match has been canceled.
As per the ICC Twitter handle, it’s learned that match has been canceled. It’s not forfeited by India.
After the announcement of the match cancellation, Michael Vaughn tweeted by saying “India have let English Cricket down !!! But England did let South African Cricket down !!!”.
Later he felt that lack of respect shown to the test cricket and expressed his views on the fans who traveled distance to see the match,”The total lack of respect shown to the Cricketing fan that had travelled hundreds miles today to see the Test today is an utter disgrace .. Surely this could have been dealt with yesterday !!!! Even then I wouldn’t have agreed with it … #ENGvIND” he tweeted.
Subsequently, he has to face the wrath of Indian supporters for his tweet, see what Indian supporters tweeted,
For the first time in 50 years, India won the test match at Oval, they were on the course to a historical series win, if rumors to be believed 5th test match can be played in the next year when India is touring England for white-ball cricket, there are no official announcements like that yet. Now Indian players and few England players are set to travel to UAE for the second leg of the IPL 2021.
