IPL 2021: Captaining for the first time in the absence of KL Rahul who was hospitalized with acute appendicitis, Mayank Agarwal delivered a magnificent knock of 99* unbeaten against Delhi Capitals on the 29th match of IPL 2021 edition held in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahemadabad. A knock that didn’t deserve to be on a losing side but Delhi capitals players contributed as a whole team in both bowling and batting department to beat Punjab Kings by seven wickets and 14 balls to spare.

Mayank Agarwal is the third player to joins this rare list of unbeaten 99 in VIVO IPl history. The other two players who were stranded on 99 were Suresh Raina against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013 edition and The Universal Boss Chris Gayle against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2019 IPL edition. Mayank was on 84 when he faced the Final over from Avesh Khan who conceded 23 runs on his last over required 5 runs to reach his century on the last ball but he could only manage a four and he was left unbeaten 99 as Punjab Kings reached the modest total 166/6.
