IND VS SL: Before the start of the series, Veteran Srilankan world cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga, expressed his displeasure for hosting the home series against the second string team from India as he felt that was an insult to the Srilankan Cricket, but including Sri Lankan cricket board and former teammate of Ranatunga, Aravinda Desilva refutes the Arjuna Ranatunga’s statement.
And Indian team proved that they could challenge any team in the world, by defeating the Lankan team in the first ODI comfortably. Though the Indian skipper is the high scorer for the Indian side, Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw were the picks of the batsmen who batted fiercely.
The Second ODI, was much like the first ODI similar target of 276 runs given to the Indian team by Sri Lankan batters, unlike the first ODI, Indian batters kept walking back to the pavilion, Prithvi shaw(13), Ishan Kishan(1) and Shikar Dhawan(29). Sri Lankans were desperate for a win, for the first time in recent times the intent was shown by them to support that Indians were losing the wickets in regular intervals.
At one point India lost half of their by 18th over still 160 runs required, but Surya Kumar Yadav(53 runs) was not giving up, he was playing aggressively, thus kept the required run-rate under control. But unfortunately, India lost his wicket when India required him most in the middle.
Who would have thought from that point India would win the match? No one, as inexperienced batters to follow, it was the mere formality for Sri Lankan bowlers. But Deepak Chahar had other ideas, he followed the way of his Chennai Super Kings captain. Yes, he just scored 2 runs from the 18 balls faced after that slowly and steadily increased his pace of scoring runs. On the other side Krunal Pandya(35 runs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (19 runs), contributed along with Deepak Chahar to snatch the victory from Lankans, who were showing improved performance from the last match.
Deepak Chahar completed his maiden fifty in this process. and his performance kept India’s winning streak for the last nine years against Sri Lanka in their home.
Hailing the performance of Rajasthan bowler, here we shared some tweets about Deepak Chahar’s performance and India’s victory.
