After the World test championship, India is up against England in their den. Kohli’s men must have learned their lessons from the WTC final, so we can see much-improved outings from them. On the other side, England suffered a loss against the World test champions in the last month. Now both teams are eying a win the series opener to carry forward the momentum. In this article, we have shortlisted three players from each side to watch out for in this series.

Firstly we are going with the Home side, Let’s see the three players for whom India should have master plans to go with,

Joe Root

Joe root has to play a vital role in this tour to provide the needed stability for the team which is having a brittle top order. He had decent outings against Sri Lanka and India will be in fine touch for the big series. The only thing he needs to do is to convert the starts to big hundreds to secure a winning position. He can be handy with the ball providing support for the fast bowlers if the pitch deteriorates on the final two days. Root has to take some bold and innovative captaincy moves to tackle the strong Indian line-ups which can take momentum along them within a session or two.

Sam Curran

Without a doubt, he was one of the players, the reason for India’s defeat against England last time when they toured. He recused England whenever they were in a trouble with his all-around performance. Indian fans can’t forget his contribution in the first test match against Kohli’s men in the 2018 series. Since then he has evolved stronger on the international stage. This time too he would be a key player to watch out for England.

Mark wood

Having been under the shadow of an archer for some time, wood will have to put his hand up and say I will be the person who can turn the tables with cheer pace and sharp bouncers to knockout the Indian batsmen. Will possess huge challenges to Indian batters using nipping deliveries outside off with great control. Joe root will allow him to bowl short spells so that he can be very effective and hard to pick if conditions are pace friendly. If England is continuing to follow rotation policy for fast bowlers then he may play the first two tests and will be given some rest due to his past back injury concerns. If he plays the entire series will be the best bet for claiming MOS for the England team.

Now time for the Kohli’s men,

Rishabh Pant

Most improved cricketer in recent years who will form the core strength of the Indian middle-order in test cricket. He had good home series against England backed with a couple of aggressive knocks under pressure. He has shown great temperament in wicket-keeping skills of late, but he will test by the duke’s ball late swing which proved very tough for many keepers. He is the only Indian wicketkeeper-batsman who scored a century on England soil. The pure game-changer with his batting ability and audacious stroke-making capability. If he plays calm for the first 20 balls then he can punish England bowlers with full throttle. If England wanted to field Jack leach watch out for the contest between pant and leach. Don’t forget the reverse switch hit he played against the great Jimmy Anderson delivery during the England tour of India.

Mohammed Siraj

The pacer who rose to the occasions on the Australian tour and even led the pace attack with an inexperienced bowling lineup. Did an excellent role with the ball by taking crucial wickets at regular intervals. Swings the ball very late, has a good seam position. In a short span of time, he was given the responsibility of delivering both new balls and at death overs for RCB in Ipl. Has a knack for getting the opposition’s best batsmen victims.Able to bowl long marathon spells at a stretch if scenario demands. If India is going with four seamers then he will have a chance to prove his mettle in the side. Sometimes can swing hard with the bat at end of the innings to get an extra 20 to 30 crucial runs. will be a big threat for England batters if conditions are more conducive for swing friendly.

Ravindra Jadeja

There are only a few players who can offer the balance needed to the team with extraordinary talents. It is none other than ‘Rockstar’ Jadeja. Jadeja would provide the wicket-taking option to the team whenever the situation demands he will rise to the occasions by claiming vital breakthroughs with his accurate lengths. In recent times he had scored some quick and useful runs down the order to reduce the deficit. During the county11 warmup game spent some good time in the middle in both innings, which should give him whole good confidence with the bat. In the field, he is electric, swift, fast-moving, and has a rocket arm. only very few players are there around who could compete with him on the field in terms of fielding skills.
