Finally, the day has come and the defending champions have opened their account on the points table. Chennai Super Kings played the season opener against KKR, and after 16 days, they have registered their first win of the season. And it came in the fifth match of their season. CSK lost their first four matches on the trot, and when it was looking like this might be the end of the season, suddenly they woke up and played like vintage CSK.

However, it came against the Faf du Plessis-led team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, at DY Patil Stadium. The team that had a pretty bad record, or you can say the worst against the Yellow Army, in the last twelve matches in the Indian Premier League, CSK has dominated RCB in 10 matches and RCB has won just two. So it was another walk in the park for the four-time champions.

It again looked like RCB needed something really special to register a win against CSK. Even after losing four matches and with low confidence, CSK can beat RCB on any day. Nothing went the RCB’s way, and the Yellow Army thrashed Bangalore in all departments of the game. Batting first, CSK made a massive score of 216/4. It was largely because of the third wicket partnership of 165 runs between Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa.

Dube made 95* off 46, and Uthappa scored 88 off 50 balls. And while defending, the CSK bowlers were all over the RCB batters and took the first four wickets for just 50 runs within seven overs. However, RCB’s lower order showed some fight, but it was too big of a target to chase. In the end, CSK won the match by 23 runs. It looked like CSK fans got their mojo back and they were up to it. Fans started trolling RCB for their record against CSK.
